Stedin, TenneT and ETPA (Energy Trading Platform Amsterdam) are starting a pilot to address congestion on the power grid in specific areas in the Netherlands.
We announced the start of the pilot at the largest exhibition for the Dutch horticulture sector. During we explained how the decentralised and national grid operator can use orders from the ETPA trading platform to utilise flex from the market to reduce grid congestion. The idea is to move local congestion to another area where there is sufficient grid capacity by applying a spread (price incentive). Up until this point, this project has been a prime example of how innovation and cooperation can reduce grid congestion at a system level. In addition the pilot is attracting national and international interest.
