A BTW entrepot/VAT depot is required for Etpa and the participant to trade energy without VAT incurring on the traded amounts. You can find more information about the VAT depot permit on the website of the Belastingdienst.

A participant needs to request a BTW Entrepotvergunning/VAT Depot Permit at the Dutch Belastingdienst. This needs to be done by mail for which our example letter can be used. This example letter can be found here.

Please be aware that the VAT depot permit request procedure can take up to six weeks.

Use this form if you will trade under a third‑party Balance Responsible Party (BRP). It records the BRP’s consent for Etpa to nominate your traded volumes to the TSO within the BRP’s balancing group and captures your capacity limit and applicable products/delivery areas. Participants that are not a BRP must obtain and maintain such permission under the Etpa Rulebook.

  1. Complete the form with the BRP details and Participant details, including the capacity limit and the relevant products/delivery areas; ensure the form is signed by both parties.

  2. Email the completed, signed form to your Etpa onboarding contact so we can activate onboarding under your external BRP.

  3. Ask your BRP to submit the Priority Nomination to the relevant TSO (e.g., TenneT Netherlands) and to copy Etpa or forward the TSO’s confirmation to Etpa, as confirmation must be provided to us. Trading under a third‑party BRP will be activated once the signed form and TSO confirmation are in place.

03

When trading under your own BRP, please use the form on this page to register the Priority Nomination with TenneT and find out below how to do this.

This form is used to register or revoke a priority nomination between your Balance Responsible Party (BRP) (the Authorising Party) and Etpa (the Prioritised Party). If you operate under your own BRP, TenneT must record Etpa as prioritised so we can nominate on your behalf; without TenneT’s acceptance of this authorisation we cannot nominate for you, and you will not be able to commence trading on our platform under your own BRP.

  1. Complete the “FORM AUTHORIZATION PRIORITY NOMINATIONS” (tick Registration for a new authorisation).

  2. Sign the form as the Authorising Party (BRP).

  3. Email the signed form to systemservices@tennet.eu and copy ETPA (cc) so we can follow the process. (The form also requires you to send a copy to the Prioritised Party.)

  4. Please allow at least two working days for TenneT to process; TenneT will inform both BRPs once the priority has been registered.
